Key Features

Salus Desktop brings together the tools you need to manage sites, workers, and safety documentation from one place. This article gives you a quick overview of each feature area, with links to dive deeper into any of them.

Note: The features described here reflect what's available to a Company Admin. Your view will vary depending on your assigned role. Field-based roles are generally better served by Salus Mobile for day-to-day tasks.

Dashboard views

Dashboards give you a live, rolled-up summary of your data. There are three types: Company (all sites), Site (a single site), and Subcontractor (a single subcontractor).

For more information, see Dashboard overview.

Site management

Sites let you organize documents, forms, and workers into groups, whether that's a physical project location or a conceptual category like a team or department. Each site rolls up into its own dashboard.

For more information, see Sites overview.

Orientations

Orientations use a QR code driven checklist to streamline how workers complete site-level onboarding. It tracks who has and hasn't completed the required steps, so you always know who's cleared to be on site.

For more information, see Orientations Overview.

Digital forms

Build digital forms on the Desktop for workers to complete on a repeating basis, such as daily hazard assessments or site hazard reports. Forms can be filled out directly by a worker or completed on their behalf. Once submitted, they're filed automatically under the worker's profile and linked to a site if relevant.

For more information, see Forms overview (Desktop).

Worker paperwork management

Every worker has a profile to view and sign documents and fill in forms. Completed paperwork files automatically against their profile and assigned site. Workers can access the platform directly, or you can create a placeholder profile to store their activity if they don't need direct access.

For more information, see Workers overview.

Subcontractor management

Invite subcontractors to manage their own workers and paperwork in Salus. Once they're onboarded, you can see summarized data for each subcontractor and access their completed documents and forms for the sites you manage together.

For more information, see Subcontractors overview.

Digital documents

Upload PDFs, images, or videos for workers to view and sign, such as safe work procedures or policy attestations. Once signed, the document files under the worker's profile while the original stays available for future use.

For more information, see Documents overview.

Certificate management

Manage worker certificates in one central place, and keep track of expirations against compliance requirements. Admins can manage certificates on a worker's behalf, and workers can also upload their own from Salus Mobile.

For more information, see Certificates overview.

Actions

Action items are created when workers submit forms, or sent directly from the inbox. They're collated in one place for the length of a project, so you can stay on top of outstanding follow-ups.

For more information, see Actions overview.

Timers

Timers track worker hours. Workers typically start and stop a timer from Salus Mobile while in the field, while the Desktop gives admins additional tools: creating timer entries manually with site, worker, job, task, and notes, plus filtering, reporting, and export options for correcting records or supporting payroll.

Asset management

Track and manage equipment and fleet vehicles using digitized forms, such as pre and post-trip inspections, damage and maintenance logs, and value depreciation. Maintenance requirements and upcoming reminders help you stay ahead of your inventory needs.

For more information, see Assets overview.

Compliance Beta

Compliance lets you build tracking modules that measure whether your team is completing the right documents and forms at the right frequency, comparing actual submissions against a target you define. You can build modules to track specific workers, a whole site, or whether designated reviewers are completing form reviews.

For more information, see Compliance Overview.

Incident management

Create and track incidents on a work site, tagging them with relevant documents and forms, and connecting them to the workers and subcontractors involved. Dedicated fields help you record remediation activities, future actions, and outcomes.

For more information, see Incidents overview.

QR Codes

QR codes give on-site workers quick access to key parts of Salus. A QR code can bundle up to six object types: Check In, Form, Document or Folder, URL Link, Asset, and Request Certificate Upload.

For more information, see QR Codes overview.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Desktop look different from what's described here?

These descriptions reflect the Company Admin view. What you see depends on the role assigned to you, so some features listed here may not appear in your sidebar.

Does every worker have access to every feature listed here?

No. Access to each feature is based on the permissions assigned to a worker's role. Contact your Company Admin if you believe you're missing access to something you need.

What's the difference between Company, Site, and Subcontractor dashboards?

Company dashboards summarize all your sites at once. Site dashboards summarize a single site. Subcontractor dashboards summarize a single subcontractor's activity.

Is Compliance still in beta?

Yes, Compliance currently carries a Beta label in the product. It's fully functional, but keep in mind it may continue to change.

Can I add an orientation ID request to a regular QR code?

No. Request Orientation ID is only available on Orientation QR codes, not on standard QR code bundles.

Should field workers use Salus Desktop or Salus Mobile?

Field-based roles are generally better served by Salus Mobile for day-to-day tasks like completing forms, signing documents, and tracking time on site.
