The Desktop Interface

The Desktop Interface

Salus Desktop uses a consistent set of interface patterns across every module, so once you're familiar with them, you'll recognize how to navigate any part of the platform. This article walks through the main layout first, then the recurring elements you'll see inside tables and lists throughout Salus.

Top Bar

The bar across the top of the screen includes:

  • A banner showing whether Rosie, the Salus AI assistant, is enabled for your company.
  • Knowledge Centre, linking out to Salus support documentation.
  • Inbox, for messages and notifications sent to you within Salus.
  • Your profile menu, showing your name and account settings.

Main Menu

The sidebar on the left lists every module available to your company, such as Dashboards, Sites, Workers, Documents, and Forms. Click a module to open it. If Rosie is enabled, Meet Rosie appears above Dashboards. Use the collapse icon at the top of the sidebar to hide or show it. When collapsed, a menu icon in the top left brings it back.

Dashboards

Dashboards is generally the first screen you land on after logging in, provided it's available to your company (and after Meet Rosie, if Rosie is enabled). It's organized into tabs by data type: Sites, Workers, Actions, Forms, Certificates, Assets, Incidents, and Subcontractors.

Each tab shows a row of filters (such as Site Name, Role, or Date Range), followed by panels: dynamic cards and charts that update to reflect live data. Panels are a one-way window onto your data. To interact with a specific record, navigate to the area of Salus where that data actually lives.

Globe icon

Appears on each panel. Hover over it to see which time zone that panel's results are displayed in.

Dashboard actions (three-dot menu)

Sits next to the filter row. Gives you options to clear cache and refresh, download the dashboard, schedule a recurring delivery, reset filters, or check which time zone each tile uses by default.

Recurring Interface Elements

Outside of Dashboards, most of Salus organizes information in tables. You'll see the same elements around these tables no matter which module you're in.

Tabs

Switch between different categories or libraries of information within a module.

Search bar

Searches the current table using keywords.

Grid / Table toggle

Switches how results display: Grid shows cards, Table shows rows and columns.

Column selector

Shown as a count, like "6/6 Columns." Lets you choose which columns appear in Table view.

Table headers

Click a header to sort the table by that column, in ascending or descending order.

Filters

Dropdown menus that narrow the table to specific criteria. You can apply one filter or several at once, and the table updates as you select them.

Refresh, Clear Filters

Refresh reloads the table to reflect your current filters. Clear Filters removes every filter so you can start over.

Pagination

Shown at the bottom of a table. Lets you set how many results appear per page and step through pages of results.

Hover icons

Hovering over a row reveals action icons with a tooltip describing what each one does. The available actions depend on where you are in Salus, but common examples include View, Edit, Download, Email, and Archive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did I land on "Meet Rosie" instead of Dashboards after logging in?

If Rosie is enabled for your company, Meet Rosie appears as the first item and takes priority as your landing screen. Dashboards follows immediately after.

What time zone are my Dashboard results shown in?

Hover over the globe icon on any panel to see its specific time zone. You can also check the Dashboard actions menu, which shows the default time zone applied to tiles unless a panel specifies otherwise.

Can I click into a number shown on a Dashboard panel to see the underlying records?

No. Panels are a one-way summary of your data. To view or act on specific records, go to the module where that data is stored, such as Workers or Forms.

What's the difference between Grid and Table view?

Grid displays results as cards, while Table displays them as rows and columns. Both show the same underlying data.

Why don't I see the same hover icons on every table?

Available actions depend on the module and your permissions. Hover over a row to see which actions apply to that specific table.
