Form builder - Variable

A Variable field automatically fills in information already known to your Salus account, like the current date, site name, or local weather, so users don't have to enter it by hand. Depending on the variable, it either fills in silently or presents a dropdown for the user to choose from.

Forms › Library › Form Template › New Field › Specialty

Note: Selecting Variable adds it to your form immediately. A Field Name is required before the field is complete, so name it right away.

Add a Variable Field

  1. Click New Group. A field must belong to a group, so this comes first.
  2. Click New Field +.
  3. Select the Specialty tab.
  4. Click Variable. The field is added to your form right away.
  5. Enter a Field Name.
  6. Under the Variable dropdown, choose the variable type you need, for example current date, current time, site name, weather, or temperature.
  7. Click Done.

Note: Variables only fill in when the form is being filled out on the App or Website with an active internet connection.

What Happens Next

Once published, users see the field populate as they fill out the form. Some Variables fill in silently with no interaction needed, like the current date. Others show a dropdown where the user selects from a set of company-provided values. Both types need an active internet connection to work.
