Overview
Salus can translate a form's text into a language of your choice using AI. This makes it easier to understand what a field team submitted, even if they filled it out in a different language than you read.
Salus automatically detects whatever language the form is in, so it doesn't matter if different fields were filled out in different languages. Everything gets translated into the language you choose.
Note: This is a Beta feature. Accuracy may vary, so always confirm the intended meaning of a translation with the relevant people before making decisions or taking action based on it.
Translate a Form
- Click Forms in the left-hand navigation, then open the form you want to translate.
- Click Translate at the top of a submitted or completed form, or AI Translation if it's still a draft.
- From Translate To, select the language you want the form translated into.
- Click Translate Form.
Translating Drafts vs. Submitted Forms
What you can translate depends on the form's status.
Draft Forms
On a draft, translating the form template (field labels) is always included. To also translate values someone has already entered, click Advanced, then check Also translate form values.
Warning: If you translate the values already entered on a draft, those fields become read-only. This protects the integrity of the original data, but it means nobody can edit that draft further until you switch back to the default view.
Submitted or Completed Forms
On a submitted or completed form, translation isn't limited by editability the way a draft is, since the form is already finalized. Choose a language and translate the whole form in one step.
What Happens Next
Once translation is complete, you'll see:
- A banner at the top confirming the form was translated by AI, with a reminder to review carefully.
- A Back To Default View button, to return to the original, untranslated version at any time.
- Every translated field shows a notice indicating it was translated, and from which language.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to specify the form's current language?
No. Salus automatically detects the source language, even if different fields are in different languages.
Why is the button called "AI Translation" on some forms and "Translate" on others?
Draft forms show "AI Translation." Submitted or completed forms show "Translate." Both open the same translation feature.
What happens if I translate the values on a draft?
Those fields become read-only to preserve the original submitted data. Switch back to the default view to edit the draft again.
Can I download or print the translated form?
Not currently. PDF generation of translated text isn't supported yet.
Can I use this on the mobile app?
Yes, translation is supported on the mobile apps as well.
Is this the same feature as Rosie?
No. Translate/AI Translation is a separate AI feature from Rosie, Salus's AI assistant.
