Create certificate types

Create Certificate Types

Certificate types let you categorize the certificates your workers upload, such as first aid, forklift, or fall protection. Setting up types keeps your Certificates module organized and makes it easier to track what's on file across your workforce.

Use this article to create a new certificate type before assigning it to workers' certificates.

  1. Enter a name for the certificate type in the Name field.
  2. Turn on Required if you want this type flagged as required in reporting.
  3. Click Save.

Note: The Required toggle is for reporting purposes only. Turning it on does not prevent workers from accessing a site or force them to upload a certificate.

What happens next

Once saved, the new type appears in your certificate type list right away and is available to select the next time a certificate is uploaded or reviewed.

New types are not applied to certificates that already exist in the system. To assign a new type to an existing certificate, open the Unapproved tab in Certificates and update the certificate's type from there.

Tip: Create all the certificate types you need in one session, then work through the Unapproved tab to assign them to existing certificates.
