Site Worker Status (Check-in and Check-out)
Salus tracks whether a worker is currently checked in to a site, which helps you know who's actually on site at any given time. This article explains the three ways a worker gets checked in, and how to view their current status.
How Workers Get Checked In
Automatic check-in and check-out with geo-tracking
Only applies if the worker has geo-tracking enabled on Salus Mobile, and the site's address has a pin set in Google Maps.
Automatic check-in with a form submission
Submitting a form for the site (like a daily hazard assessment) automatically checks the worker in. If they don't check out manually, they're automatically checked out 16 hours later.
Manual check-in
The worker checks in themselves using the check-in feature on Salus Mobile. They can check out manually too, or if they don't, they're automatically checked out 16 hours after check-in.
Note: Geo-fence check-ins and check-outs aren't guaranteed, for example, if the worker's app is closed or their location services are off. Manual check-out is the most reliable way to keep attendance records accurate.
Viewing a Worker's Status
- Click Sites in the left sidebar.
- Click into the site you want to check.
- Click Workers in the site's sidebar.
The table shows the following for each worker:
Last Check-In
The date and time of the worker's most recent check-in.
Check-Out
The date and time of the worker's most recent check-out.
Status
Never: the worker has never checked in to this site. Logged-off: the worker has checked in before, but isn't currently checked in. Logged-in: the worker is currently checked in.
The table also shows an Orientation ID and Orientation Status column if the site uses Orientations, indicated with a red icon if incomplete or a blue checkmark if complete.
You can also view a worker's check-in status from their individual worker profile.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does a worker show as "Never" even though they've worked on this site?
"Never" means they've never triggered a check-in specifically, whether through geo-tracking, a form submission, or a manual check-in. Completing other paperwork for the site doesn't count as a check-in on its own.
Can a worker forget to check out and stay "Logged-in" forever?
No. If a worker doesn't manually check out, Salus automatically checks them out 16 hours after their check-in time.
Why isn't geo-tracking working for a worker?
Geo-tracking only works if the worker has it enabled on Salus Mobile and the site has an address pinned in Google Maps. It also depends on the worker's app staying open and their location services being on, so it isn't guaranteed. Manual check-in and check-out is the most reliable option.
Where else can I check a worker's status besides the site's Workers tab?
Their individual worker profile also shows their check-in status.
